“Yuva Jagaran” – AIDS Awareness Workshop

The NSS Unit No. 240 of Assabah Arts and Science College, Valayamkulam, organized an AIDS awareness workshop titled “Yuva Jagaran” on 14 October 2025. The program was conducted in collaboration with the Kerala State AIDS Control Society and the State NSS Cell, with the objective of creating awareness among students about the causes, transmission, and prevention of HIV/AIDS. The inaugural function of the program was held at the college auditorium. Prof. Muhammad Koya M.N., Principal of Assabah College, inaugurated the session and addressed the gathering. In his inaugural speech, he emphasized the importance of youth involvement in spreading awareness and eradicating misconceptions about HIV/AIDS. NSS Programme Officer Abdul Rahman.P delivered the welcome address, highlighting the objectives and relevance of the “Yuva Jagaran” initiative. Staff Secretary Praveen K.U., Librarian Shinoj, and Faculty Member Safura also spoke on the occasion. The main attraction of the program was a series of awareness performances by the Nritanjali Payyoli Arts Team. The team presented skits, songs, and mimicry performances that effectively conveyed messages related to AIDS awareness, prevention, and social responsibility. These cultural performances provided an engaging platform to communicate crucial information to the students in an interactive and memorable manner. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and volunteers. The sessions helped in building awareness about the disease, modes of transmission, preventive measures, and the importance of compassion towards those affected. Students actively interacted with the performers and resource persons, sharing their views and reflections on the issue.

The “Yuva Jagaran” AIDS Awareness Workshop successfully achieved its goal of educating and sensitizing students about HIV/AIDS. The program also highlighted the role of NSS in promoting social awareness and public health initiatives. The collective efforts of the NSS volunteers, faculty members, and the performing team contributed to making the event informative and impactful.
