WORLD FOOD DAY DEBATE COMPETITION 2025

The PG Department of Food Science and Technology, Assabah Arts and Science College, organized a Debate Competition on 16th October 2025 in connection with World Food Day. The programme was conducted at 2:00 PM in the Conference Hall.The event aimed to create awareness about the influence of food-related issues in society and to encourage students to debate:“Food advertising influences youth more than education does.”

The programme began with a brief introduction highlighting the significance of World Food Day and the importance of responsible food choices among youth. Participants from various semesters actively took part in the debate competition. The speakers presented strong arguments both in favor of and against the motion, discussing aspects such as the impact of social media marketing, celebrity endorsements, fast food culture, nutrition education, and the role of schools and families in shaping food habits.

The debate was highly engaging and thought-provoking. Participants demonstrated excellent communication skills, confidence, and in-depth knowledge of the subject. The judging panel evaluated the contestants based on content, clarity, presentation skills, and overall impact.

The competition concluded with the announcement of winners, and attractive prizes were distributed to the best performers. The event successfully achieved its objective of promoting awareness about the powerful role of food advertising and the importance of education in shaping healthy dietary practices among youth.
