In observance of National Girl Child Day, the Women Development Cell (WDC) in collaboration with the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) hosted a high-level symposium titled "Education, Gender Equality, and Empowerment." The event aimed to sensitize students and faculty toward the systemic barriers girls face and to celebrate the progress made in gender-inclusive education.The programme commenced with a welcome address of Shajitha V, WDC & ICC Convenor and formal inaugural ceremony was taken place by Captain Mohamedkoya, the College Principal.In his keynote address, Captain Mohamedkoya emphasized that education is the most powerful tool for breaking the cycle of inequality. He highlighted the institution's commitment to fostering a safe, equitable environment where every female student can pursue her ambitions without prejudice.
Speakers discussed how literacy and higher education directly correlate with increased female labor force participation and delayed marriage ages.Important personalities felicitated the programme.
The ICC representatives provided a session on legal rights, campus safety protocols, and the importance of a "zero-tolerance" policy toward harassment to ensure true equality. The panel discussion featured successful interaction ,in which students who shared their journeys, illustrating how academic empowerment leads to leadership roles in diverse professional fields.
The symposium successfully reinforced the message that empowering the girl child is not just a moral imperative but a necessity for societal progress. The collaboration between the WDC and ICC ensured a holistic approach, covering both the aspirational aspects of education and the protective framework of legal rights.The programme was concluded with expressing gratitude by Husna Haneefa , WDC member.
