SWACHHTA HI SEVA 2025

In connection with Gandhi Jayanti celebrations, a grand Cleanliness Campaign was organized under the auspices of NSS Unit No. 240 of Assabah Arts and Science College, Valayamkulam. The program was held as part of the Central Government’s “Swachhta Hi Seva 2025” campaign and the Kerala Government’s “Shuchitvotsavam” project, both aimed at promoting cleanliness and environmental responsibility among citizens. The cleaning drive took place on the roadside of the State Highway near the college campus. The program was formally inaugurated by Dr. Baiju M. K., Vice Principal of the college, who emphasized the importance of collective participation in keeping our surroundings clean. He also highlighted that cleanliness is not merely a physical activity but a moral and civic responsibility that every citizen should uphold, echoing the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. The activities were efficiently led by NSS Programme Officer Mr. Abdul Rahman P., who motivated the volunteers to actively engage in the drive and understand the deeper significance of Gandhi’s message on cleanliness. Around fifty NSS volunteers enthusiastically participated in the campaign. The volunteers cleaned the roadsides, removed plastic waste, and spread awareness among the public about maintaining hygiene and avoiding littering. Placards and slogans promoting cleanliness and environmental care were also displayed during the campaign. The event served as a reminder of Gandhiji’s vision of a clean and self-reliant India. The organizers expressed that such initiatives help in nurturing a sense of responsibility and civic awareness among the youth. They also stated that more similar cleanliness activities will be organized in the coming months as part of the NSS annual action plan. The program concluded with the slogan “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”, reaffirming the NSS volunteers’ commitment to building a cleaner and healthier society.
