Report on Extension Program: "Say No Plastics"

Objective:
The "Say No Plastics" extension program aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of plastic use and promote eco-friendly alternatives in the local community. The initiative encouraged shopkeepers and residents to switch to paper bags and other biodegradable options.
Activities Conducted:
- Final year students distributed paper bags and informative pamphlets to nearby shops and houses.
- The pamphlets highlighted the environmental impact of plastic and benefits of using sustainable alternatives.
- Students interacted with shopkeepers and residents, explaining the importance of reducing plastic use.
- Emphasis was placed on adopting eco-friendly habits and reducing single-use plastics.
Coverage:
- Shops Covered: Approx. 50 local shops in the vicinity.
- Houses Covered: Approx. 25 households in the neighborhood.
- Pamphlets Distributed: 200+ informational pamphlets on plastic reduction and alternatives.
Outcome:
- Shopkeepers expressed willingness to adopt paper bags and reduce plastic usage.
- Residents appreciated the initiative and showed interest in switching to cloth bags and other sustainable options.
- The program helped spread awareness about the environmental hazards of plastic and encouraged community participation in reducing plastic waste.
Monitoring and Feedback:
- The program was monitored by IQAC members and faculty coordinators.
- Feedback was collected from participants, and the response was positive.
