A debate competition was held at the Calicut University Senate House on 27 January 2026, which provided a platform for students to express their views and enhance their communication skills. Fida Nasreen and Fathima Hanana from first year BSc Food Technology have actively participated in this prestigious academic event, accompanied by faculty Asad Villooni.

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various colleges affiliated with Calicut University. The debate topics were relevant and thought-provoking, allowing participants to present arguments with clarity, confidence, and logical reasoning. The judges evaluated the participants based on content, clarity of speech, confidence, logical flow, and rebuttal skills.

Students successfully cleared the first round through the effective presentation and argument skills. Although the students were eliminated in the second round, the experience gained from both rounds was highly valuable.

The program was well-organized by the Energy Club and proved to be an academically enriching and memorable experience for both of us. The interaction during the debate helped the students to improve their public speaking abilities, listening skills, and teamwork.
