Introduction:

National Reading Day celebrated  on June 19, 2025, at the Library Hall of Assabah Arts and Science college. The event aimed at promoting reading habits, developing language skills among students and commemorate the contributions of P. N. Panicker ,the pioneer of the library movement in Kerala.

Details of the event:

The event began at 10.30 AM with a short inaugural ceremony. The programme was commenced with a warm welcome by Ayisha Adhila (2^nd year BBA Student).The function inguarated by the respected Principal Prof.Mohamed Koya M.N who emphasized the importance of reading in building knowledge,creativity,and critical thinking among youth. Felicitations were delivered by Department heads. Faculty members from various departments ,club co-ordinators and students from various classes attended the event.

Students from different streams actively participated in the Reading competition ,where they read selected passage from a motivational literature. The participants were judged based on clarity, pronunciation, expression and overall presentation.

The competition winners are:

 1^st prize- Vineetha C Willson Paul (2^nd year Bcom co-operation) , Ayisha Minha (3^rd year BCA)

2^nd prize – Athira (2^nd year BBA)

3^rd prize – Ansida K A (2^nd year Bcom co-operation) , Fathima Shahada (2^nd year Bcom co-operation)

The programme was concluded with a vote of thanks by Haneena Jabeen( 3^rd year Bcom co-operation).
