ONE DAY HUNGER STRIKE IN SOLIDARITY WITH PALESTINE

The NSS Unit No. 240 of Assabah Arts and Science College, Valayamkulam, organized a one-day hunger strike titled ‘Skip a Meal’ on 11 Augest 2025 to express solidarity with the Palestinian people enduring immense suffering due to the ongoing war in Gaza. The programme was conducted under the slogan “Share their hunger, express solidarity.” The event began at 10:00 a.m. at the college portico and was formally inaugurated by Principal Muhammad Koya M.N., who addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of standing with humanity and voicing concern for global peace. The Principal expressed deep sorrow over the hardships faced by the people of Gaza and commended the NSS unit for organizing such a socially meaningful event. Throughout the day, students, teachers, and NSS volunteers actively participated in the hunger strike to symbolically share the suffering of those affected by war. The programme served as a powerful reminder of the value of empathy, peace, and human rights. The closing session, held at 3:30 p.m., was presided over by Vice Principal Dr. Baiju M.K., who appreciated the students’ enthusiasm and moral commitment to humanitarian causes. As part of the day’s events, various activities such as an anti-war convention, speeches, and discussions were organized to raise awareness about the devastating impacts of war. Anti-war resolutions were presented and unanimously adopted during the convention, reflecting the collective stand of the college community against violence and conflict. The event was effectively coordinated under the leadership of NSS Programme Officer Abdul Rahman. P. Faculty members Praveen K.U., Asif Gypsy, Hamza, Afifa, Shajita, Shobha, Shafiq Nilambur, Ansif, Anshad, and others extended their active support in organizing and guiding the students.
