ONE DAY HUNGER SATYAGRAHA AGAINST BREWERY

In response to the rising concerns over the spread of alcoholism and the establishment of new breweries in Kerala, Jana Rogya Prasthanam, Changaramkulam, organized a One-Day Hunger Satyagraha on August 20, 2025, at Rice N Fish Hotel premises, Parappur. The protest aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of alcohol consumption on individuals, families, and society, and to urge authorities to take firm action against the increasing influence of alcohol industries.The NSS Unit No. 240 of Assabah Arts and Science College, Valayamkulam, actively participated in this initiative as part of their social commitment to promote public health and responsible citizenship. The Satyagraha commenced at 9:00 AM and continued till 5:00 PM. Activists, social reformers, and volunteers from various organizations gathered in solidarity to voice their protest against the expansion of breweries and the widespread use of alcohol in society. NSS volunteers from Assabah College played a key role in organizing the event, assisting in crowd management, distributing awareness pamphlets, and engaging the public in discussions about the health and social impacts of alcohol abuse. The programme featured speeches from public health experts and social workers, highlighting the urgent need to strengthen anti-alcohol movements and promote awareness among the youth. The campaign drew strong public attention and generated discussions within the community about the need for stricter alcohol control measures. The involvement of NSS volunteers added enthusiasm and credibility to the movement, inspiring others to join the cause. The event also reinforced the importance of collective responsibility in building a healthy, addiction-free society.
