Objective:

            The objective of releasing ഇടം was to provide a structured platform for students and faculty to share literary and academic contributions, promote reading habits, and document institutional achievements. The newsletter seeks to foster collaboration, strengthen research and writing skills, and encourage reflective and creative thinking. It reflects the library’s commitment to transforming itself into a dynamic hub for knowledge, discussion, and intellectual growth.

Introduction:

            The Library and Information Centre of Assabah Arts & Science College launched its official newsletter, ഇടം, as a collaborative initiative with the Department of Malayalam. The newsletter is envisioned as an academic and literary space that promotes reading culture, creative expression, and institutional documentation within the campus community. It aims to provide students and faculty a meaningful platform to share their intellectual and literary contributions.

Event Details:

            The inaugural function was held on Conference Hall with enthusiastic participation from the academic community. The program began with a welcome note by Mrs. Safoora P.K. The first issue of “ഇടം” was formally released by Mr. P. P.M Ashraf, College Management President. The function was presided over by Prof. Mohamed Koya M.N, Principal, who highlighted the importance of nurturing reading habits and academic writing among students.

Felicitations were delivered by Dr. Baiju M.K., Vice Principal; Mr. Praveen K.U., Head of the Department of Malayalam; Dr. Harikrishnan K., Head of the Department of English; Mr. Shoukathali, Office Superintendent; and Mr. Sinaj Muhammed, College Union Chairman. They appreciated the joint effort of the Library and the Malayalam Department in bringing out the newsletter and encouraged students to actively contribute in future editions.

 

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Asif T.A, Department of Malayalam.

Participation:

Students from various UG and PG departments, faculty members, management representatives, and administrative staff attended the function. The event reflected a strong sense of collective responsibility and enthusiasm towards strengthening the academic and literary culture of the institution.

Conclusion:

            The launch of “ഇടം” marks a significant milestone in the college’s efforts to promote scholarly engagement and creative expression. As a collaborative initiative, it symbolizes unity among departments and reinforces the library’s commitment to fostering a vibrant intellectual environment. The newsletter is expected to grow as a dynamic platform encouraging students and faculty to read, write, and reflect.
