The Entrepreneurship Development (ED) Club of Assabah Arts and Science College, Valayamkulam, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organised a skill-oriented workshop titled “Mehandi with Left Hander” on Monday, 22 December 2025, at the College Library Hall.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. Mohamed Koya M. N, Principal of Assabah Arts and Science College. In his inaugural address, the Principal emphasized the importance of vocational and skill-based training alongside academic learning. He stated that such initiatives help students identify their talents and transform them into entrepreneurial opportunities, thereby promoting self-reliance and innovation among youth.
The workshop was conducted by Ms. Shamna K, a professional mehandi artist and a sixth semester B.Com Finance student of the college. She demonstrated various mehandi designs using her left hand and shared professional techniques, creative patterns, and practical tips with the participants. Her session inspired students by highlighting how traditional art skills can be developed into sustainable income-generating ventures.
Students actively participated in the hands-on training session and showed keen interest in learning the designs and techniques. The workshop also included an interactive segment where the resource person discussed career opportunities, pricing strategies, and customer management in the mehandi art profession.
The programme aimed at enhancing creativity, developing practical skills, and encouraging entrepreneurial thinking among students. The event was monitored by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as part of the institution’s commitment to quality enhancement and experiential learning.
The workshop concluded successfully with positive feedback from participants, marking another meaningful initiative by the ED Club and IIC to promote skill development and entrepreneurship among college students.
