The NSS Unit No. 240 of Assabah Arts and Science College, Valayamkulam, organized a humanitarian fundraising initiative on 13 August 2025 to support Mr. Babu, a construction worker from Kuttippuram and Moodal, who has been undergoing treatment for throat cancer for the past few years. Mr. Babu has been regularly visiting the college seeking financial assistance for his medical treatment, and as in previous years, the college community once again came forward to extend their helping hand. On this occasion, Mr. Babu personally visited the college and approached the staff and students for support. Responding compassionately, NSS volunteers initiated a collection drive across various classes under the guidance of Programme Officer Abdul Rahman. P. The teachers and students of all departments showed remarkable generosity and empathy towards his suffering. Through the combined efforts of NSS volunteers, class teachers, and students, a total amount of Rs. 11,493/- was collected and handed over to Mr. Babu on the same day. The NSS unit expressed sincere gratitude to all those who contributed to this noble cause. Further, class teachers were requested to cooperate in collecting additional contributions from students who had informed that they would bring their donations the following day. The event once again demonstrated the spirit of compassion, unity, and social responsibility that defines the NSS movement within the college community. This initiative served as a reminder that small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in distress and reflected the NSS motto, “Not Me, But You.”.
