DEBATE ON DOWRY SYSTEM

A debate program on the Dowry System was successfully conducted by the Women Development Cell (WDC) and the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Assabah in connection with Dowry Prohibition Day ( November 26th ). The event aimed to raise awareness and foster critical discussion about this persistent social evil.Shajitha V Welcomed the dignitaries, participants, and audience, setting a constructive tone for the debate.Mohamedkoya MN, Principal officially inaugurated the program, likely emphasizing the importance of tackling the dowry menace in society. Felicitation address was deliverd by the Management members and Vice Principal with  congratulating the WDC & ICC for the initiative and reinforcing the institution's commitment to social causes.

       The central focus of the program was the debate on the Dowry System. The participants engaged in a lively and intellectual discussion, presenting varied perspectives on the practice, its societal impact, and the effectiveness of existing laws and the exploration of the historical, social, and economic factors that perpetuate the dowry system, often disguised as gifts or voluntary presentations.Analysis of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, and its subsequent amendments, highlighting both its strengths and limitations in implementation.The connection between the dowry system and violence/harassment against women, emphasizing that true empowerment is key to eradicating the practice.The debate successfully achieved its objective of sparking a serious dialogue and reiterating the need for collective social action to ensure the spirit of Dowry Prohibition Day is upheld throughout the year.Concluded the program by expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the event's success by Student representative Kafeela.
