Introduction
The Library Council and NDLI Club, in association with the IQAC of Assabah Arts and Science College, Valayamkulam, organised an “Awareness Session on the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) and NDLI Club” on 17 September 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Conference Hall.
The session aimed to create awareness among students and faculty about the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) and the NDLI Club, and to encourage the academic community to make effective use of the vast collection of e-resources available through the platform. It also sought to familiarize participants with the registration process, features, and benefits of NDLI membership, and to highlight how it supports research, learning, and lifelong knowledge acquisition.
Event Details
The programme began with a welcome address by Sri. Sinoj A., Librarian, introduced the purpose of the session and emphasised the growing relevance of digital libraries in the academic ecosystem.
The event was inaugurated by Prof. Mohamed Koya M.N., Principal of the College, who, in his inaugural speech, highlighted the role of NDLI in democratizing access to knowledge and promoting research-based learning. He also appreciated the efforts of the Library Council and IQAC in organising programmes that align with the digital vision of higher education.
Following the inauguration, the Resource Person, Smt. Hafsa A.P., Librarian, The SOBHA Academy, Palakkad, delivered an insightful and interactive session. She gave a comprehensive presentation on the features, accessibility, and benefits of the NDLI platform, including registration, search techniques, and the advantages of NDLI Clubs in fostering collaborative and digital learning environments.The event also featured felicitation speeches from distinguished faculty members, including Dr Baiju Mukkadakkattil, Vice Principal, Sri. Praveen K.U., Head of the Department of Malayalam, Mrs Sushama K., Head of the Department of Mathematics, and Mr. Shoukathali, Superintendent. Each appreciated the initiative and encouraged students to make effective use of digital library resources.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mrs Shajitha V., Department of English, who expressed gratitude to the Principal, Resource Person, faculty members, and participants for their active involvement and support in making the event a success.
Participation
The programme witnessed active participation from students of the Postgraduate departments and faculty members of the college. The participants engaged enthusiastically with the Resource Person, clarifying doubts and exploring the potential of NDLI as a learning and research tool. The session was widely appreciated for its informative content and practical demonstration.
