ANTI-WAR GATHERING AND FASTING

In a remarkable display of compassion and solidarity, the students of Assabah Arts and Science College, Valayamkulam, under the auspices of the NSS Unit (No. 240), organized a one-day fast and solidarity rally titled “A Fast for Humanity” in support of the Palestinian people enduring immense hardship due to the ongoing war in Gaza. The event, held in Changaramkulam town, aimed to express empathy and raise awareness about the humanitarian crisis affecting thousands of innocent civilians in Gaza. The day’s program began with a solidarity rally that commenced from the Changaramkulam Bus Stand and concluded at a specially prepared protest pandal near the bus stop. The rally witnessed the participation of numerous students, teachers, and local residents who came together to voice their call for peace and justice. The one-day fast began at 10:00 a.m. and was formally inaugurated by Mr. Kunji Muhammed Pantavoor, Secretary of Assabah Management and noted social activist. In his inaugural address, he emphasized the importance of standing with the oppressed and highlighted the universal values of humanity and compassion that transcend geographical and political boundaries. As part of the event, an anti-war convention was also organized, during which Adv. Siddique Pantavoor presented an anti-war resolution, condemning the ongoing violence and urging world leaders to take immediate steps toward restoring peace in Gaza. The convention resonated with messages of solidarity, peace, and humanitarian responsibility. Distinguished dignitaries, including Assabah Management office bearers Mr. Muhammad Unni Haji, Mr. Abdul Razak, and Mr. Salam Master; Changaramkulam Traders and Industrialists Coordination Committee President Mr. P. P. Khalid; Assabah PTA President Mr. Basheer; C. M. Yusuf; and Cine Artist Mr. Lakshmanan also addressed the gathering. Each speaker highlighted the significance of youth-led humanitarian efforts and the moral duty to support the suffering people of Palestine.

Throughout the day, various awareness activities, speeches, and cultural expressions were held at the protest pandal, reinforcing messages of peace, empathy, and global unity. The program concluded with a collective prayer for peace in Gaza and a reaffirmation of the students’ commitment to uphold the values of humanity, justice, and non-violence, which align closely with the vision and spirit of the National Service Scheme
